Midwestern State University has a non-refundable non-transferable application fee of $25.00 for new undergraduate students, $35.00 application fee for graduate students (this includes post-baccalaureate and teacher certification) and a $10.00 matriculation fee for returning students. MSU students who fail to enroll in a fall or spring term must reactivate their admission to the university. Applications will not be processed until the application fee has been received.
Application fee waivers are only available to beginning freshmen applicants who have also received an entrance exam fee waiver from ACT or the College Board as approved through the MSU Board of Regents. Fee waivers are not available to undergraduate transfer, returning MSU students or graduate applicants. An application for admission will not be processed until the application fee has been received by MSU Admissions.
MSU Admissions will accept late applications online 7 days after the printed deadline. All late applications will be assessed a $25 late registration fee at the time of registration. Applications for admission are only applicable for the term submitted on the application (change of semester requests are not accepted). Applications will not be accepted after the printed deadline without individual approval. All application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
NOTE: All transcripts and test scores must come directly from the issuing institution to MSU to be considered official. Student mailed or hand carried copies are considered unofficial.

FOR ADMISSION, STUDENTS MUST:
Per state law, Uniform Admissions Policy, TEC 51.803-51.809 requires that all students must meet one of the following college readiness standards in order to be eligible to be considered for admission at a Texas Four-Year Public Institution.
-Successfully complete the recommended or advanced high school program or complete the portion of the program that was available to them. For Texas students, please refer to the TEA Graduation Requirements brochure; or
-Successfully complete a curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor to the recommended or advanced high school program at a high school that is exempt from offering such programs; or
-Satisfy the College Readiness Benchmarks on the SAT or ACT entrance exams

*MSU requires the writing section of the ACT/SAT entrance exams. The combined SAT is Critical Reading and Mathematics and a composite ACT score. The scores listed above in our sliding scale exclude the writing score. Entrance exam scores must be received from College Board and/or ACT to access essays.
Students whose high school transcripts does not reflect ranking must meet College Readiness Benchmarks.

Students who do not meet the minimum requirements will go through an individual review process with MSU Admissions. Highschool transcripts, rigor of curriculum, grades earned on high school transcript, grade point average and class rank will be considered to render a decision.
CONCURRENT / DUAL CREDIT
If you have attempted collegiate work through a concurrent or dual credit program while in high school, you must meet beginning freshmen admission requirements (regardless of hours earned) and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on collegiate transfer work. Official transcript from the college(s) you have attended must be submitted to MSU Admissions. ACT/SAT minimum scores are required.
EARLY NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
A beginning freshman student desiring early notification of an acceptance to the University may submit an application, either ACT or SAT scores, TAKS scores, and a copy of the official high school transcript reflecting grades through the sixth semester of the junior year. A projected date of graduation and class rank should be indicated on the transcript. Pending admission status may be given if all necessary information is not available to MSU Admissions. Early notification of acceptance may be advanced to full acceptance for admission after graduation from high school is verified with MSU Admissions by submission of an official high school transcript showing date of graduation and rank in class. Early notification of acceptance is not binding. If class rank changes or grade points for collegiate credit, MSU Admissions reserves the right to rescind an offer of admission.
FALSIFICATION OF RECORDS
A Student or applicant who knowingly falsifies or is a party to the falsifying of any official university record (including such records as transcripts, test scores, application for admission, Texas Success Initiative status, student personnel forms) will be subject to disciplinary action which may include suspension or enforced withdrawal from the University.
SPECIAL ADMISSION
Students whograduate from an unaccredited high school or home study program or completed a GED in lieu of the high school diploma, will be considered for admission on an individual basis. ACT/SAT minimum scores are required.
Students denied admission may petition the MSU Admissions Committee by submitting a signed letter to the Director's attention.

Students will be admitted if they graduate in the top ten percent of their class from an accredited Texas public high school if they meet the following conditions: 1. graduated from high school within the two years prior to the academic year for which admission is sought; and 2. submitted a complete application before the deadline. Students in this category may be required to enroll in certain courses in the summer after graduation or during the first semester of enrollment. ACT / SAT scores must be submitted. |
The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a program which was developed by the 78th Texas State Legislature under which all undergraduate students, who are not exempt,are required to take one of the followingassessment tests to demonstrate their level of college readiness in math and English: THEA (formerly TASP), Accuplacer, Asset, or Compass. - be eligible to return to your former college(s) or university.
- must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on each official transcript(s).

If you have earned fewer than 18 hours of college credit, you must have your high school submit an official copy of your transcript. You must also meet the requirements for freshmen admission.
Summer Guest
If you are currently attending another institution and would like to take summer classes at MSU, you must:
- complete a Summer Guest Application for admission
(Be sure to fill out an UNDERGRADUATE application and select UNDECIDED as your major.) - submit an official transcript from your current institution reflecting your grade point average is a minimum 2.0 and you are in good standing and a verification of enrollment reflecting your spring 2010 term, if not reflected on your transcript.
If you attended MSU previously but stayed out of school for a long semester (fall or spring) or more, you must:
- reactivate your application file by submitting a new application for admission. Undergraduate students who are applying forgraduate or post-bacalaureate admission, must complete an application for graduate or post-bacalaureate admission.
- order official copies of transcripts sent directly from the issuing institutions if you attended a college or university since MSU. You must be eligible to return to these schools.
- provide proof that you havemet the Texas Success Initiative(TSI).
Post-Baccalaureate Students
Students who have at least a bachelor's degree, but are not pursuing a master's degree - only taking courses for personal or professional reasons must:
- complete an application for admission. orderofficial copies ofall college transcripts sent directly from the issuing institutions.
Teacher Certification Students
Students who already have at least a bachelor's degree who are seeking teacher certification must:
- complete an application for admission.
- order official copies of all college transcripts sent directly from the issuing institutions.
Note: Admission into the University does not guarantee entry into the teacher certification program. You must meet with the Certification Officer in the West College of Education for a deficiency plan.
